Historical Landmarks

Istanbul… A magnificent city that has one abutment on the Asian Continent and one abutment on the European Continent, which has hosted and witnessed different civilizations, cultures, and historical events for centuries. It is another pleasure to run with the scent of history in this unique city… It’s our pleasure to share with you the historical landmarks you will encounter along the racecourse on your marathon journey so that you can run by feeling and experiencing Istanbul.

15 Temmuz Şehitler Bridge: The first bridge of the Bosphorus, which is considered the starting point of our racecourse, connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. In our opinion, it is a great idea to start the run with a deep blue landscape and connect two continents by running!

Istanbul Naval Museum: Turkey’s largest museum with 20,000 artifacts in the maritime field. Maybe you would like to visit the first military museum established in Turkey after completing the racecourse and having a good rest!

Dolmabahçe Palace/Dolmabahçe Mosque: in Dolmabahçe Palace which is one of the most beautiful views of the Bosphorus and was built by Sultan Abdülmecid, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk spent most of his time during his visits to Istanbul. With the Dolmabahçe Mosque right next to it, it is a wonderful structure that will take you on a short journey into the history of Istanbul during your run.

Fındıklı Mosque: Also known as Molla Çelebi Mosque, this mosque is among the important structures built by Mimar Sinan during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent.

Galata Bridge: This bridge, which connects Karaköy and Eminönü, and built on the Golden Horn, is one of the rare bridges in the world where trams run over it. A racecourse where you can enjoy running with the view of Karaköy, Eminönü, and Golden Horn awaits you!

Yeni Mosque, Spice Bazaar, Sirkeci Train Station: These beautiful historical landmarks, which you will see in order throughout the racecourse, take you on a short journey into the history of Istanbul!

Sepetçiler Summer Palace, Topkapı Palace: Topkapı Palace, where the Ottoman sultans had lived for 400 years, is one of the most important historical landmarks of Istanbul with the Sepetçiler Summer Palace, one of the two coastal mansions in Sarayburnu.

Ahırkapı Fog Horn and Lighthouse: Ahırkapı Fog Horn and Lighthouse, which is a pathfinder for ships entering the Port of Istanbul from the Sea of Marmara and passing through the Bosphorus, is among the important historical structures that were built during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid and have survived to the present day.

Little Hagia Sophia Mosque: The building, which was built as a church by I. Justinianus and his wife Theodor, was converted into a mosque during the reign of Bayezid I and is one of the favorite structures of domestic and foreign tourists today.

Air Force Academy: The Air Force Academy, which was opened as the first aviation training institution in the Ottoman Empire under the name of Aircraft School in 1912, trained successful commanders in the history of Turkey. It is one of the historical landmarks you will encounter at approximately the 28th kilometer on our history-smelling racecourse.

Gülhane Park: Gülhane Park, where the Tanzimat Fermanı, which is the first concrete step of democratization, is read, has a very important place in the history of Turkey. This historical park, which you will see at the 40th kilometer of your run, will be a great motivation for you to complete the racecourse with its fresh air.

Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque): The mosque, built by the Ottoman Sultan Ahmed I, is one of the greatest works of art in Istanbul and the last stop of the uniquely beautiful Istanbul Marathon racecourse. We recommend you visit the Blue Mosque, which has become the focus of local and foreign tourists, and take a small historical tour in Sultanahmet Square!

Our race course, which we travel to history throughout 42 kilometers, continues to offer you both a unique experience and a dazzling view of Istanbul!
